The Disney Channel debuts the Lizzie McGuire episode

2002:
The Backlot Theater at the Disney-MGM Studios, which showed "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," closes its doors. The popular stage production had run for 7 years.
The 2002 Thea Awards are presented at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is presented an award from the Themed Entertainment Association for outstanding achievement in the "Themed Hotel" category. The Sherman Brothers are honored with a Thea Special Achievement Award. (The Thea Awards are the park industry equivalent to the Oscars.)
2003:
Over one hundred people attend a musical tribute at the University of California to honor musician-composer Buddy Baker, a 28-year veteran at Disney (who passed in July 2002).

Disney's Aladdin Special Edition Soundtrack is released.
